I'm expecting my first baby any day now and though home-birth is popular in nz, I still have had a few raised eyebrows.

God bless,

Pearl (nz)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855328030821432653.post-77767021377228309392017-04-13T04:04:45.158-05:002017-04-13T04:04:45.158-05:00Thank you for a well informed, and perfectly scrip...Thank you for a well informed, and perfectly scripted post on the topic of home/birth-centre/hospital births. It is seldom one comes across a level-headed article on this subject, what with all the very strong personal opinions on this hot topic! WELL DONE!

My husband and I have two daughters, both of which were born at home. Our families were quite divided on our choice. To say the least, it was very unpleasant. Nevertheless, we committed our ways to the Lord, and trusted that He (who is the Father of all) would guide us in this matter. He is the Author of life, after-all!

I could never explain to my "anti-homebirth"(does that sound awfully rude?) relatives, why we chose to deliver our babies this way. It was really difficult to express our convictions in this matter, and they had great difficulty understanding, let alone accepting, our decision. In their difference, both my pregnancies were high-risk. I experienced very high blood pressure, premature rupture of the membranes at +/- 32 weeks and developed pre-eclampsia in the final weeks of the second pregnancy. Both girls were born at term (40 weeks) and weighed 3.7kg and 2.2kg respectively. Similar to you, the first labour was around 23 hours, and the second approximately 6 hours :-)

In the end my husband and I agreed that we do not have defend our decision to have our babies at home. We made the decision to have home-births with great care, and we are responsible to God alone in this matter.Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06050146524709649412noreply@blogger.com
