A Visit from the Brittons, Part 3

Sightseeing up near Angel Fire

A prairie dog has been spotted!

The lake at Eagle's Nest

Enjoying a rest in the mountains.

Isaac all dressed up in his overalls for some picture taking at the park!

So serious.

A new family picture for our prayer cards!

Oops - Isaac forgot to look up for this one. :)

Grandpa, Grandma, and Isaac

Four generations!

A silly daddy.

A doting grandmother.

One big, happy family!

A smile for Grandpa.

Look at that handsomeness!

Playing with Grandpa back at home.

Okay, enough playtime!

That's better.

Just chilling with Grandma.  (Look at those toes in action!)

It was a happy visit!

A Visit from the Brittons, Part 2

Time for a little sightseeing!
(Once again, the photos are courtesy of my mother and father-in-law!)

First stop: the earthships.

Earthships are homes designed to be entirely self-sustaining, operating "off the grid."  They are built out of recyclable materials, like old tires and tin cans, and equipped with their own water system, solar powered electricity, and heating and cooling methods.

Earthships also house green houses indoors to grow much of their own food.

This fancy one has a water fall in front of a fireplace.  Very cool!

One of the bedrooms.

The bathroom, decorated with old glass bottles.

Next stop: the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge...

...where the views are breathtaking!

Our little trooper!

Last stop: the mountains!  Here is the Taos Ski Valley closed up for the year until next winter, with only a little snow remaining.

Beautiful scenery!

And snow-capped peaks!

On our way back down the mountain, we stopped to enjoy the fresh air by a peaceful stream.

Trying out the frigid waters!

It was a fun family day!

A Visit from the Brittons, Part 1

This past week, we enjoyed a wonderful visit from Nathan's parents and grandmother!
We played games, toured the sights, ate good food, and had lots of fun together!
Of course, they all enjoyed meeting Isaac, too! ;)
Here are some of our memories captured in photos to share, most of which were taken by Nathan's mom.

On the drive in to Taos: the Rio Grande Gorge.

Nathan and his dad.

Our beautiful mountains.

Meanwhile, back at home, Isaac and I were awaiting their arrival with great anticipation!

Me and my boy.

Getting acquainted with Grandma...

...and Grandpa.

Look what Grandpa made!  Toys for Isaac!

A grader for playing with in the dirt!

And a very cool airplane with a propeller that spins!

We took a walk that first night and snapped a quick picture by our church sign.

Isaac loves going on walks!

Most of the time, they put him to sleep. :)

Teaching the family one of our new favorite games, Blockus.  That's Nathan's, "I think I might get beat" face.

Concentrating...

And defeat is confirmed.  It was fun anyway!  (Right, Nathan?)

Grandma snuggling with Isaac before bed - so sweet!
