Five years ago today, our firstborn son was born, and changed our world forever. :)
We are so thankful to the Lord for Isaac's life! From the time he was a baby, he has always been an easy-going child who has been a joy to be around! As time has gone on, it has been such fun to see him develop into a cheerful, helpful, creative, bright little boy who loves life and is learning to love the Creator of life!
This past year has been particularly full of growth for Isaac in different ways. It hasn't been instant, but rather day by day, line upon line, here a little, there a little. Not only is he taller, but he is more mature, more capable, more helpful, and more "grown up." He no longer uses a bib or a booster chair. He rarely has potty accidents while sleeping anymore. He can be counted on to do a job and has learned how to rinse dishes, fold laundry, crack eggs, and sweep floors in addition to other chores. He is now reading simple books and excitedly completed his kindergarten math book as of this month! He has also made a lot of progress with writing numbers and letters although Bible, science, and art remain his favorite aspects of school.
I love to see Isaac's personal interests awaken and deepen as he grows. This past year, he has spent a lot of time creating and building. Block towers and blanket forts are his specialty. He still thrives on playing/working outside and LOVES to play games of any kind! His competitive spirit seems as strong as his daddy's! ;)
Isaac has grown a lot in his desire and ability to obey quickly. He has also become more responsible and diligent with his work. He absolutely dotes on his baby brother Silas and is a particular help to me by playing with him while I prepare meals. Lest you think he is perfect, though, he is still working on kindness and patience with the other brothers along with not whining! ;)
Exciting as all the growth in his life is, seeing Isaac's understanding of the Bible and spiritual matters deepen has been the greatest joy of this past year! He seems to have a really good grasp on concepts like sin, forgiveness, salvation, who God is, why Jesus came, and what it means to be a Christian. His child-like faith is genuine and I can't wait to see how it will continue to develop!
