Recipe By Reader Request

As a follow-up to my post "A Long Walk for Apples," here is the recipe for the apple crisp to which I referred:

Autumn Crisp
Taken from the cookbook A Satisfying New Approach to Slimness, Vitality, and Health

Ingredients

8 large apples—peeled, cored, and sliced (Grannysmith work the best!)

¾ c. maple syrup (I didn't have any, so I used 3/4 c. honey and 1/4 c. molasses)

¼ c. honey

¼ c. whole wheat pastry flour

2 t. cinnamon

Topping

2 cups rolled oats

1 c. whole wheat flour

¾ c. cold unsalted butter

½ c. honey

2 t. cinnamon

Instructions

Grease 9x13 pan

Mix the ingredients together and turn into greased pan

Combine first 2 topping ingredients, working in butter with hands or pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add honey and cinnamon, mix well

Spread over apple mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1—1 ½ hours

Disclaimer: I did not take the photo at the top of this post, so it is not actually a picture of this recipe of apple crisp. It does however look almost identical!

It sounds wonderful!
I don't eat very much processed sugar, so I am always glad for a good honey or maple syrup dessert recipe!
